So for the last two years there has been question which will will blue ray or hd dvd? Blue ray can hold almost 2x more data than HD DVD ... so i was for Blue Ray....

However in december with players being $100 instead of $1000 I bought one. I have to say it is a great up converting DVD player... which anyone could use (if you have a high def set).

However this week.... Toshiba anounced it would no longer make the players. Walmart won't carry HD DVD and netflix wont carry HD DVD either...

Its over... HD DVD is gone... so next winter look for Blue Ray to be affordable...

As it is... I sold 3 HD DVD players and more than paid for mine.. so no real loss...
(Maybe its time to send my unit to the world of Ebay too)

A total eclipse of the Moon occurs during the night of Wednesday, February 20/21, 2008. The entire event is visible from most of North America (Sorry west coast). So plan on getting outside and looking at the sky tonight.

During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon's disk can take on a dramatically colorful appearance from bright orange to blood red to dark brown and (rarely) very dark gray.

An eclipse of the Moon can only take place at Full Moon, and only if the Moon passes through some portion of Earth's shadow. The shadow is actually composed of two cone-shaped parts, one nested inside the other. The outer shadow or penumbra is a zone where Earth blocks some (but not all) of the Sun's rays. In contrast, the inner shadow or umbra is a region where Earth blocks all direct sunlight from reaching the Moon.

If only part of the Moon passes through the umbra, a partial eclipse is seen. However, if the entire Moon passes through the umbral shadow, then a total eclipse of the Moon occurs.

So there we were in Denver. And everyone who knows where Denver is, knows its right there next to the rocky mountains. Now, when you think of gross foods, and you hear of the rocky mountains, what do you think of? That’s right oysters... or that’s what they (and you would like to think). We headed over to the Wapiti Restaurant right outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. After looking at Elk all day, we decided it was time to eat one of them. The Wapiti restaurant had a nice Elk Steak. So what does Elk taste like? Well, its kinda like beef roast crossed with a steak, looks pink even when well done, and don't do well done, its not needed and is warned to be tough. I would recommend it.

But on to the other part of this conversation… Rocky Mountain Oysters. There it was on the menu, I've never seen them anywhere. Anyone who knows me knows I've got to try things which are local. (How else would I have eaten Gazelle, Springbok, Elephant, Moose etc). Well after talking with Kristen, who was a bit hesitant... and after asking our server who said he hadn't gotten up the nerve... we went ahead and ordered them.

We got them, and I offered one to our server, who hesitated but accepted. His description of it tasting like a Chicken Gizzard was very accurate. Very dark meat. In all it wasn't bad, and I'd even have them again. (Of course anything fried is good ... right?)

Our server said that there were few places you could order it. Also he said that 9 out of 10 people who ordered it liked it. The other 10% couldn't get over what it is (for those confused to this point what it is, you can read this article).

Speaking of confused.... After we were done, Kristen was like that wasn't as bad as eating oysters raw. I was like are you sure? That’s a lot more strange! But those oysters were cooked, she responded. At this point I realized she didn't know what she had eaten. I told her she didn't want to know.... but she insisted.. and well the words " I think I'm going to be sick", lets ya know the reaction.

Well Last week I was in Denver for work. As Usual when I travel I try to find what is unique to the local. Well as I heard that Flying Dog Beer was made in Denver I thought, why not... it is the worst beer I've ever had. Maybe I just had a bad experience....

....flash back to bad experience....

I was at Luppies Pizza in Chatanooga (great pizza!) Anyways, I treated my good friend Jon to a Brewski... a Flying Dog Brew... why not it had a cool bottle (my usual down fall). Well lets say we both took a drink and decided it not fit to drink. Outside the store was a homeless man. We figured we'd treat him to a brewski. He eagerly accepted.. even coming in the store to thank us again. Well as we watched out the window, he took one drink, had a gagging look... and took the beer and threw it in the paper box. WOW! Thats bad beer,

... Beer So Bad A Homeless Man Wouldnt Drink It.
(That kinda has a good ring for a slogan)

Anyways....back to the Denver story.

... So off I go to the Flying Dog Brewary and Restaurtn. They make all the beer for the country there in the ghetto of Denver. After properly locking the car, so that it wouldn't be gone later, we headed in. I had the sampler. I figured well this will help me see what is ok.

Well it was a good size sampler, and honestly I gave a good portion away... Why? Because flying dog beer is Beer So Bad A Homeless Man Wouldnt Drink It. Yet despite not liking anything they had (OK their Gonzo beer may be ok... though its the least favorite of most people)... I met a new milestone. The Worse BEER EVER

I had the Double Dog, well I tried somoenes. If you were to cross ear wax with beer and general scum out of a bathroom I think you could make your own Double Dog Beer!

YES its that bad. So there ya have it my run down on Flying Dog Beer. I'd say skip it.... (especially if you're not old enought.. truly you're not missing anything... I would have a coke anyday (and I don't even like coke)

On one final note I did have their Barly Wine.. and that my friends is very different.. I never could decide if I liked it or hated it... the key is... I couldn't decide which puts it way above any of their other products.

But it only gets better... next week we'll tell you about the nastiest thing we've ever ate! And yes we were in the Rocky Mountains.

"It's the Geminid meteor shower," says NASA astronomer Bill Cooke of the Marshall Space Flight Center. "Start watching on Thursday evening, Dec. 13th, around 10 pm local time," he advises. "At first you might not see very many meteors—but be patient. The show really heats up after midnight and by dawn on Friday, Dec. 14th, there could be dozens of bright meteors per hour streaking across the sky."

Under normal conditions on the night of maximum activity, with ideal dark-sky conditions, at least 60 to 120 Geminid meteors can be expected to burst across the sky every hour on the average. (Light pollution greatly cuts the numbers.)

The Geminids begin to appear noticeably more numerous in the hours after 10 p.m. local time, because the shower's radiant is already fairly high in the eastern sky by then. The best views, however, come around 2 a.m., when their radiant point will be passing very nearly overhead.

The Geminids are not ordinary meteors. While most meteor showers come from comets, Geminids come from an asteroid—a near-Earth object named 3200 Phaethon.

So the annual Geminid Meteor Shower will be tonight. Well technically tomorrow morning. If you head out and watch between midnight and sunrise you may get a good show. Its possible you may get as many as hundred per hour.

So go out and freeze your buns off.. lose some sleep and enjoy the natural wander!

Oh and if you wanna really calculate how many you can expect, check out thttp://leonid.arc.nasa.gov/estimator.htmlhis site.

You can figure out for every meteor shower coming up when you should go look outside!

So as all who know me may know I am a radiohead fan, I've traveled half way across this country more than once in attempts to hear them.... why? Because they are just plain unique! They don't care what is popular they define it... well it turns into that often... which raises many questions with their latest stunt.

Radiohead sold nearly 1 million copies of their last album in the US...(and equivalent amounts around the rest of the world) with the record company keeping 80--90% of the money revenue.... they made a hefty 20-25 million off this album...

But not this time! Radiohead has said forget you record companies. (As have the consumers in recent years)

THis is bad news for the record companies... one company executive stated "if the best band in the world doesn't need or want us... who will?"

Oh a bad time to be a record label.

But as for the album its available for download tomorrow for how much? its up to you... its like a donation arangement... I gave em $3.50 More than they probably got from the last album I bought of theirs..

So go get in line.. for your copy available tomorrow! In Rainbows Available only not in stores...

No doubt you have heard by now... but it is true.. The last Myers has been wed...

Darryl stated it was a sign of the last days, a fulfillment of the prophesy "and when you see the last Myers marry, take not for the end is near".... or something like that.

And for those of you who had declared.. "you'll never get married..." well time they are a changing... to quote Mr Dylan.

The wedding took place in my parents back yard on 7-7-7 (yes lottery tickets, and one armed bandits were the theme...) It was good times... with Portishead as our song to dance too..

Here are some pictures from the wedding and a link to Darcie (who took our pictures) website.
