Its been a wicked week..

What a week...been pretty busy.

But hey ... thats life good times good times.

So as for a post today... lets play a game. It will be the reverse of what we played once... which was ask a question the next person puts an answer and ask another question.

Yet today. We are gonna make you think a little more. a person will post a simple answer... the next person post a question which they would respond with that answer. (I know you're confused).

Example:
___________________________________
Person 1:

Pickles
___________________________________
Person2:

Response: What is something you had to learn to like.

Their new Answer for the next person: Bigbird
___________________________________
Person3:

Response: Who was your favorite Sesme STreet Character
(Person 3 would have to believe Big Bird was the coolest character, if they didnt like him... there Response would have been : Who was your least favorite Sesme street character).

North Dakota

.....you get the idea.

We'll see if anyone figures out what I mean...

A true aid...

The world leaders had its annual G8 sumit to look at how to fix the woes in africa. Then music claimed they would help with their Live8 concerts.

Jer 10:23

What if they said you were an expert in England?

10503.jpg

Well I've been at work for over 14 hours today... and still don't know when I'll be heading home.

Why you ask... well according to the BBC because I'm an expert.

Read the article here.

I am working on the size of that debris. And well I think i've got a good logical process for calculating it.

Nothing like reading bout yourself in the news ... in England.

I Pee u Pee We All Pee for...

urinal.jpg

Only at NASA would you get an email like this... and it be serious! (Where else can you work and a bathroom break be part of your job?)

We need your help...and your urine!!!

We have a shortage of urine to continue materials testing this weekend. So I would like to ask all you males out there (collection units are only available in the men's bathroom) to drink up and head on over to building 4755 to donate for a needy cause.

For the females, if you do want to support our need, we will do our best to provide collection facilities...or you can help pump fluids into your favorite-or maybe least favorite-male co-workers.

No, this is not a joke...although I can hear them flying around right now. We really do need to collect urine for testing so please please please donate.

Thank you...and I know I'm going to get teased for this email

For those confused... Well it is to support testing of the Unit for Space Station that converts Urine to Water. Odd eh? Mmm Mmm Cheers!

A new thing to collect?

treeHouse.jpg

Yesterday I stumbled upon a site which sales trees. Famous trees. Famous trees you say, confused, perplexed as to what we speak. Yes famous trees. Well in fact there are many famous trees.

But what we speak of here are famous trees you can buy.

Examples:

MOON TREE
How about a tree that is a descendant of a tree which has been to the moon, or at least seeds of that tree? In 1971, Astronaut Stuart Roosa, a former smoke jumper, wanted to fly something in honor of the U.S. Forest Service, and brought along seeds that were then planted at colleges and universities across the nation. Its a Sycamore.

JOHNNY APPLESEED TREE
How about owning an actual apple tree that Johnny apple seed planted. Pretty awesome eh? Hurry supplies limited.

And there are a host of other trees you can purchase too. However, I believe the best way to go is travel to these famous places and find your own trees. That would be a much more impressive collection.

And for those who like dead things... how about furniture from a famous tree? If you're rich go for it...

Oompa Loompa What did they do?

1c.jpg

VS

ww2.jpg

So this weekend I went and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The original is one of the most disturbing children films of all time, and therefore holds a special place in my heart. Would the new one meet and beat this? Well my hopes were up as it was described as a dark film. Was it? Well I never thought it was nearly as dark as the original. In the Original Willy Wonka was scary because he was, well just a little off, in the new one he is supposed to be scary because he is insecure having flashbacks to childhood. This does explain things, but takes away from him actually being scary.

Yet what really takes this to the top of not being what it should be two things: The tunnel ride was not nearly as scary as the original (the original still trips me out). And the music. The music, the songs is not nearly as frightening as the original. Maybe it is the 60's psychedelia which made the original more trippy...

But for all who say this is a darker film, I disagree. Highly disagree.

Funniest part of the movie... when they have a cow hung up being whipped with, well whips... and its explained they are making whipped cream. We needed more moments like that.

So there you go... save your money go rent the original and get the oompa loopma song stuck in your head again.

My goal: To create a techno album with excerpts from the original and that will go with the movie... Kinda like Dark Side of the moon with Wizard of Oz.

So, who wants in on the album creation... and who agrees disagrees on the new Willy Wonka?

The Day Arives

118344main_1331-m.jpg

Fact of the day: The Space Shuttle goes from standing still on the launch pad to more than 17,000 miles per hour in just over eight minutes.

Well 2.5 years of work to make a safter launch vehicle. And today, the shuttle will return to the heavens... well if it can fit in the 10 minute window of flight. Thats right, if weather is perfect on the needed 10 minutes today, then the shuttle will fly. If not, then 1000's of people will return to the consoles again tomorrow to try again... until the perfect weather.

Space flight isn't easy. In fact it dictates perfection.

Would I be your Pilot?

!CID__07-09-05_1848.jpg

Those who know my dad, knows he loves to fly RC planes. I never was one much for this. However, dad got me a whole setup last year, and this weekend when I headed home, well we went to fly.

On Saturday, everything went well, a loop here, a spin here and there, perfect landings within feet of where I stood.

Then Came Sunday.

On my third flight Mike E. goes, "hey Jerm do a loop". My first mistake, I thought ok... I had done these before, but always while the plane was flying away not toward me (which makes everything reverse in your mind).

Well after the plane started a serious nose dive spin... I started to try to get out of it. Well as it plummeted, 400 feet, 300 feet, 200 feet, somewhere about 50 feet I go "I DONT KNOW WHAT I'M DOING!" 1 Second later the plane was nose first into the ground in a nice spectacular crash.

Therefore, lesson of the day. When your plane goes crazy outta control, release the controls... let it straiten itself out.

Otherwise, you get a jig saw puzzle.

Ben Friday

Its been a while since we had a Friday, so I got this email from Ben up in Waynesville. OK, so I've just met him a couple of times.. But last time up at my sisters we started talking making films, (Always a good time by all).

Anyways, I honestly have no stories about Ben. However, he and a friend Boris have created some films. I must say there is good cinematography in these. And a couple did make me laugh (Its all most Moby like).

Here is his site.
Check out Albertsons, and Seminar. The Cinematography is pretty sweet in 110 percent.

Anyways here's to the small production Filmer's wherever you are.

Is it time for a another video contest? I think it may be... hmm.

Add your stories, reviews, or thoughts on what the next video contest should be.

Nadine: Darcie, I made that special sandwhich spread using a special recipe including seasoned dirt.

Darcie (Thinking): Oh that explains the retched flavor.

Tommy: That bird is dropping a large piece of ice out of the tree... Donk... Ow....

Jeremy: Yay! I'm bleeding, look at my thumb.

Kathryn: Here, I'll finish cuttin it off. Darcie? Want some Finger foods?

People ... They are odd, and strangly sad

IMG_2030 (Small).JPG

It is signs like this that make me worry about people, is it the fact that a once outlaw is idolized? OK, that does have some bearing, but the first thing that creates concern for me is this sign which was in the town my work was based from in New Mexico. Is Authentic, really that large a word (that they need to explain in parentheses what it means?)

I guess maybe it is? But still I had to laugh every time I passed it.

Now moving on to the second point. Billy the kid was such a villain, that well, even today he is still behind bars (as you see in the picture below).

IMG_2024 (Small).JPG

The next question is how does someone like Billy the Kid end up in fame when Its all said and done? He lived only to his early 20's was famed for his shootings of people. Even though question exist what is true, still the fact is interesting, why do humans esteem the most evil?

For instance Pirates. (I always wanted to be a pirate growing up.. Arr Shiver me Timbers) In fact Black Beards (Another famous corrupt man) ship was just found a few years ago off of North Carolina, now intense recovery of the ship is going forth.

But why are we so intrigued by such individuals? Thoughts?
