Jeremy n Kim Friday

IMG_0502 (Small).JPG

Jeremy n Kim(Oh wait, no thats just Kim, and someone else....)

From various places they come together... to reside in huntsville. We're talkin some good times, and some good folks (Hey that sounds like it should be a restraunt slogan). So once Jeremy told me (that being Jeremy not me Jeremy) whats great about being to an outgoing person, is you dont have to worry about keeping a conversation going, or entertaining other people. Yep Jeremy (Kim n Jeremy, Jeremy) is pretty layed back and mellow.

In fact one of the funniest moments; was actually when I met the Haleyville gals the first time; we were going to pick up Jeremy, and decided to paint posters welcoming him back to Alabama (for at that time he resided in Philidelphia...) True we painted our faces, and were rather crazy, but it didnt matter, he wasnt on the plane we waited hours for... DOH!

And Kim... funny times funny times... Need a laugh, or someone to laugh at you... look no further than Kim! Super nice, super funny, and a super graphic artist. Kims Da Cool.

So leave your Jeremy n Kim stories for this Friday of Jeremy (not me) n Kim (not me either)... Friday

An Interview with Pedro the Lion

IMG_7267 (Small).JPG

The Misconstrued Team headed Down To Birmingham to enjoy a Pedro the Lion/Death Cab for Cutie Show. We sat down a bit with Pedro the Lion to learn more about the band.

The concert was supurb. If you aren't familiar with Pedro the Lion they are a mellow indie rock band. Termed emo sometimes, it would be on the calm non tempermental scale of folk emo music.

Those songs played among others included: (Links to video clips have audio trouble (since I dropped the camerea).)

When They Really Get to Know You they will Run
Penetration
New Song from Achilles' Heel
Just Talking about Birmingham/another tour name Paperback
New Song from Achilles' Heel
Foregone Con
Big Trucks
Rapture
Criticism

David Bazan the mastermind of Pedro the Lion, is just a down to earth nice guy, with a thinking head on his shoulders. His concern and sencerity is seen in his music and shows.
Bazan is the only central part to a group that has been made up of over 30 people over the last 4 albums of release. However, based on this it is obvious who is the cohesive force of the group.

We will have a review of their new Album Achiles Heel soon enough, but you can visit the site and listen a bit to there music now!

We were able to get some time with David Bazan (Lead Singer/Band Leader), as well as Tim Walsh (Drums).
Listen to his responses on:

Some have Called Pedro a Christian Band, what Is Bazan's Response to this?
What is the song Of Minor Prophets and Their Prostitute Wives About?
The Latest Band Members Explain How they were added to Pedro
Does the Band Hope to make it Big?
What does the Word Misconstrued make Walsh think of?

Continue reading the extended entry to Read the entire interview with him, and watch some video clips of his response to various questions.

Of course there was more to the interview as well here are some other questions and responses of the interview with Bazan.

J- What do you think of the South?

D-I really like the south. Southern accent is so warm and inviting. People are really nice even in big cities. I love that. You think Mark Twain and such, its just great. I mean, I love black folks. They are a comfort to see. Make me happy. And there’s just not as many up north.

J-What do you think of the latest review of the album on allmuic?
D-Their review of the latest album…that was flattering. I don’t even know if its as good as they say it is.

Ben Kweller walkes in
Conversation with Ben

D-How’d it feel man?
B-felt like crap. Nah..its just dark, red lights and all. Hate that man. But I love the star. The star was awesome.

J-you guys do some great music.
D-well, these guys have some talent. Its just about working hard, filling in the gaps.

J-What was your best tour?
D-for me most special tour was with Bed Head. I just loved those guys. Texas Band. Mid 90’s broke up and formed New Year. Well they went on tour and asked me to open for them, and that amazing. I opened solo for them. I’d get to the show and hang out with them. Just asking them “Ya know this song, what made you write that?” and “This lyric here…that’s great!” just great times with them and hanging out. That was a great tour.

T-What is the meaning of the Priest and paramedics song?
D-My uncle, he was a paramedic. And so there was this one guy in the neighborhood who was ya know…drug addict, drunk, and all the time getting in trouble. And one night, I guess he just got way too messed up and ended up getting some 3rd degree burns. Yeah, real bad. And he’s in the ambulance and my uncles there with him. And the guy just would not calm down and seriously was freaking out. Coming in and out of consciousness and going crazy asking “Am I gonna die!? Am I gonna Die!?!?” My uncle he was trained, as all paramedics are, to never tell the person they are gonna die. But this guy was just going nuts. So my uncle looks at him, knowing he was going to die cause he was just so bad off, and my uncle looks him in the eyes and knew he had to level with him. So he tells him straight up “You are gonna die tonight man. In fact, prolly in the next 15 minutes. So you better get yourself straight with God and make sure your ready.” And the dude just calmed down and went into a daze and just… I guess got himself straight with God and such. And then of course he did die that night, about 15 or 20 minutes later he did die. So I just took that story about a man, and made it into a song about a husband and went from there.
T-well its an amazing song. One of my favorites.

Bouybee Uybee? "You're a Sell Out"

IMG_1291 (Small).JPG

Those words rang in my ears this weekend, as I was professed to be a sell out. What brought these deep reaching words (which actually means I have something to sell out... I was once cool? hmm interesting)

What was it? Well It was the end of my bagpipe career. An attempted sell of the ol bagpipes on ebay led to a nice profit, and sell... and thus the purchase of a guitar. Yes, in many ways going from bagpipes to guitar does sound like a sell out I agree. But at least I know how to tune the guitar. I challenge anyone, tell me how to tune bagpipes? Very complicated.

But no fear. I still have my kilt.

Yet I believe the guitar will once again be used to prove I am not a sell out. In fact I was able to record 5 songs in a matter of 30 minutes this weekend. (In the style I call accoustic Wesley Willis).

I will be recording under the name Bouybee Uybee (pronounced Bob Ub).

Today Is your lucky day as I post a cover of Blurs Song 3

Bouybee Uybee - Song 3

I'll give you one more tune... about postage rates... (If you listen to it 4x you'll never get it out of your head (like most Wesley Willis Songs).)

Bouybee Uybee - A Post Office Song

So if anyone wants to see any more songs (sparatic/dramatic/erratic) is a great one. Let me know, and I'm now looking to play shows too... my calendar is pretty open right now.

Seth Friday

sethhat2.jpg

Seth in his standard country getup... oh wait... maybe I have the wrong Seth

It was once stated "ask and you shall recieve" Which leads us to Seth Friday. With an incredible write in campaign, we present Seth Friday. Actually Seth Friday is a viable and appropriate Friday, for seth will soon (within 7-8 months) be Father Seth (not friday, but Mills). And now that he has his own day, no doubt he shall name the child Misconstrued (at least for a middle name).

Anyway, ol Seth. The first time I was around him I just remember low lights, him holding knives, (and other kitchen utinsils) and him repeating Iggity Biggity. (Which Translates into booga booga boo in the land I am from). If you are confused by all this... well dont worry, it is just a terrifiying experience that will make you wet your pants... (everyone I have seen experience this has done that very thing, wet there pants).

But yes Seth, while usually wagging his head at the antics of Kevin and I. In fact he has his own tricks up his sleave.

I had forgoten the greatness of one of these events. I stayed in the same hotel as Seth (keats). We wreaked havoc on the person I was sharing my room with. We switched his mouth wash with vinegar (I didnt know we did this one), stole his mattress, put sugar and crushed potato chips ll over his bed, wrapped it in plastic and, of course, starched his underwear (thanks to help from Seth's Mom). I think Jeremy even stole all his clothes for the assembly, save one outfit that didn't match - it wasn't even a stretch to match. (Did I, ? forgot that one too) Anyways... good times good times, He's one of those guys you dont pull one on, because in his quietness... a great vision of revenge is brewing.

Add your stories about Seth, and try to help give names for his forthcoming Baby!

Snow Patrol... Amazing Energy for Ambient Greatness

DSCN1266 (Small).JPG

So lets say you drive to Washington DC, as a wedding photographer... its late, but you hear Snow Patrol is playing at one of the coolest Venues in DC... What are you gonna do?

Well go to the Midnight show of course, then get 3 hours of sleep and drive home.

Snow Patrol played the 9:30 club in DC Saturday Night. It was amazing but we arrived only minutes before they got on stage, and found few there... We walked right up to the stage ... close as you could get (as you see in the shots!).

What we were in for, was musical greatness! If you've never heard of the snow patrol... well you need to check them out, they are a great Indie Pop/Rock band with an energetic floating ambient sound. Confusing? Indeed.

But when you see them live (and As I must say you have to...) You'll be amazed. So much energy is poured out on the stage. You would think you were watching a really hard band, but actually they are quiet mello! Hard to believe when you watch how much they get into their music.

Also of note: I've never seen a band member cry on stage, but the base player teared up and started crying during one song. Now thats passion for your music.

But also sad, was he had taped down on the stage the lyrics for 3 songs... and we watched him read the lyrics for at least one of them. Guess its for when he goes blank (been there relate to that). But after the show, I got those lyrics, and a pic...

He told us he was enjoying his US tour, and how much better the DC crowd was than the Atlanta crowd. Hopefully they'll get some coverage in the states becuase these guyz have a ton of talent!

Anyways, check them out while they grace the states, a unique opportunity that you must take! And if you missed them, they said they'd be back this fall, Mark your calendar!

Watch a Clip of the show (set to the song Wow...) (my camera had no audio

Visit there site to listen to some more of their tunes and watch their video

Deepless Thoughts Tuesday

Welcome to a new Misconstrued Day, Deepless Thoughts. A question will be posed, simply respond Yes or No... We will tally the votes, and conclude with some highly scientific data! If you want to combine your yes or no with explenation that is fine as well.

Be sure to participate its as easy as yes or no. (explenations are optional)

Todays question:

Would it be possible to die from Brain Freeze?

Yes/No (State your vote in the comments section)

(Brain Freeze is like when you drink a slurpy or icecream really fast, and you get that extreme pain in your head. This question came up this weekend as we found 3 gallon slurpies for $1)

April 19, 2004

OK, go watch a movie!

I know I know you figured you'd never see those words on this site... but hey when its cheap... ya know? Anyway, here is a 99 cent movie coupon for blockbuster. (Good once per Blockbuster account).

I recommend "Life is Beautiful" Its the most depressing funny movie ever made. Honestly I've never even gotten close to crying in a movie. But I did in this one, as did both my Mom and my Lil Sister. This woke up my other sister (who falls asleep in all movies) her first words in panic "What happend, did dad die? Whats going on? Guess it was a weird experience for her... but the movie will be a weird experience for you. Check it out!

Years in the making

ready_19apr04.jpg

Gravity Probe B was to launch today, but due to weather was held off, Dreamed up in the 60's, and taking over 30 years to actually launch. Another attempt will be tomorrow Go watch it tomorrow on the live webcast (click on the link Watch NASA TV now).

A Boeing Delta 2 will launch NASA's Gravity Probe-B to measure how space and time are warped by the presence of the Earth, and how the Earth's rotation drags space-time around with it. The spacecraft will test the predictions of Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity.

Is einstein correct? Or should we say how correct?... obviously Newton wasnt, he was a generalizer, how much a generilization of the universe was Einstein? Better understanding on blackholes? What all will this prove/ imply?

You may remember we talked about this once before, when this was to launch previously... go to the old post to read about the mission.

You gotta have FAITH! Friday

meanpeople.JPG

So few are the ones you can say... and then there was that time we went to africa, and had a poo spitting contest. But well this would be true for Faith.

This weekend we voyage up to mid-northern Virginia the home to many, including Faith. Faith is one of those folks whos ready for whatever you dream up, and as ya know... that means good times (cuz I'm a dreamer). The above picture was taken after our Washington DC Scavenger Hunt. We had 2 hours to get the following, a hat from a random person (as a gift). A quarter from a bum. A picture of 3 random people in front of the lincoln memorial and interviewof what they thought of lincoln. (Seems most think he was a good basketball players. And a few other interesting creative shots.

Anyways, ol Faith will be seen this weekend, as her bro gets hitched, and darc n I will be there to capture the moment. So if you know Faith... and have a story... feel free to leave it.

You gotta have what? Faith..............

Oh and the picture above, well I posted that firmly on her face after she gave me one major major weggie... atomic? I do think so.

The Muse Film... Not Sure How this all got started... but...

THIS ENTRY HAS BEEN MOVED TO OUR NEW MUSIC SITE.

WE HAVE MOVED OUR VIDEO TO OUR NEW MUSIC SITE WWW.AFTERTHESHOW.INFO

First off if anyone official ever visits this, please tell the Muse boys, we want them back at the cotton club in atlanta. (Will they hook me up). And if Muse wants any original footage for there own use, let me know.

OK, seems the little Muse Video We assembled of the "incident" has been getting quiet a bit of viewership... from this site alone 1000's of people have watched the video: with 1000's of viewers there will be 1000's of opinions

and this is misconstrued thoughts

as they have been: Some find the video very humorous, others find it horrible for its where Matt gets hurt... [the goal was to be informative to what happened and to the curse] Everyone at the show was “severely bummed”... the real fans were at this show... for it was only announced 2 weeks before they played (well the real fans and the real fans who drug there friends to the show… who they now should be real fans, for Muse live is amazing)

...the point of the video, was not to make fun, but so all could see... and also see the sadness of those at the show.

But for those finding humor in it... well I say humor is subjective and all are intitled to it... actually it can help lighten moments.

In America Muse is not appreciated: Our goal has always been to encourage people to listen to muse. There is no mocking in the video, it is all true pain. I guess differences in culture create different reactions.

And wow... I never knew Muse was so big in some of these other countries, the venue we saw Muse at had like 400 people or so... I don’t think you get that opportunity in the UK. So there are benefits to waiting forever.

But alas, I hope they return... for it is my curse which plagues from sea to shining sea.

Anyway, the videoclips for the incident have been mirrored (thank goodness)
by the site microcuts.net

You can watch the Video Showing the end and the curse in

First off if anyone official ever visits this, please tell the Muse boys, we want them back at the cotton club in atlanta. (Will they hook me up). And if Muse wants any original footage for there own use, let me know (or if you cant get your comment to post (due to traffic) email it to me).

Also, go to main site for more info on this and compilation album.

Friday April 9th, 2004. We head to Atlanta to see Muse. I honestly had nearly forgot of the curse that has plagued me for years. The curse of the show! What show? Any show I really want to see. Let me give a quick run down:

Toad the Wet Sprocket -

(1995) Convinced not to go see them for another trip (although highly looking forward to it... figured I'd go to next tour)
(1997) Recieve flyer in mail 2 days after their Nashville Show A few weeks later they break up
(2003) Reunion Tour, drive on drive to Cincinnati get in 2.5 hour traffic jam, and a snow storm.... but do somehow make the show just in time.

Radiohead-

(2001) Show in Atlanta Sells out to quick/Buy tickets for Washington DC show, after 12 hour drive find out the show is cancelled due to flooding
(2003) Plan to go to festival in New York, 2 days before festival it is cancelled; with effort show is enjoyed barely

And now adding to the list (which this list only exist for bands i've waited years to see) Now adding...

Muse -

(2004) Go to see Muse in Atlanta (after waiting 5 years to see the show), 4 songs into the show, the lead singer hits his face on the neck of the guitar... sending him to the emergency room... sending us home early

So there you have it a run down of the curse. The 4 songs were most spectacular, if given the chance to see Muse live - Go for it (and hope me and my curse are not there). It is amazing to see what 3 people can produce musically. The depth the richness. Well just see for yourself (although the audio isnt the best)

Butterflys and Hurricanes watch it from the atlanta show (WMV)

And Finally watch a short video on the death of a show (Windows Media).

Thanks to Microcuts.net for the help with bandwidth.

Danny n Ashley (A friday of Love n War)

danash (Small).jpg

Ah well seems we have a pattern... You get Married/ You share a Friday...
This weekend, among many people Danny and Ashley shall be tieing the knot. So stories... hmm stories. Well The first thing that comes to mind with Ashley is how I first met her... or didnt... She was living up in Indiana, I got an email then from someone else who said "Have you seen this". Then next thing I see is a picture of myself on the Cover of a Singles JW Magazine. It was a classic... definitly made me laugh... but made me wonder... who in the world is this Ashley person? Anyways years later (ok 2) here she heads down the aisle... leaving the pages of Singles JW.

Ah but thats just one story... let me relate one other, My favorite. Seems 2 summers ago, Water Wars overtook Huntsville. You never left home w/o your protection. We were at a party, and I get this call that Ashley for some odd reason had gone to my house to refill her water gun; yet in the mixup she had lost keys to her dads truck. In trauma she calls asking for help to find them... when we get there Seems its a sabatage. I would be found damp... but not dampered in spirits. We fled the scene... and waited in ambush back at the party... as they arrived, we jumped the truck... as we rode around in the truck bed, we had to formulate a scheme to get in the truck... IDEA... fall from the truck appear injured on the road. This was masterfully completed. Ashley stops gets out (nearly in tears)... but it wouldnt be the tears which would soak her. Hahaha. It didnt end there... hours later, we (the Kamikaze Kauze) stalk her down at sonic for a soaking drive by-thru.

Good times good times

Danny on the otherhand, well ol Danny is in our hall... pretty calm, cool, collected. That is until a little XPGA breaks out (See the Video Section). He's been there through many of the unique Huntsville moments, I've shared in since I arrived here. The football games/ the rampages through homes... One thing is for sure now though. He locks his car. (He always heats up the car... But he learned after I arrive that you just dont leave the doors unlocked for an unmanned running car.... it will quickly disappear. (But then again I think he was the one who used the credit card to get in my house that time I locked myself out).

Good times Good times

Leave your stories. For Danny/Ashley Friday

Pixie Dust...

..thats right a trail of dust being left in the shadow of a meanderings band of pixies as they tromp around the world! I had been greatly disappointed when it appeared that there was no pixie dust headed to the great south. But alas, redemption!

The Pixies will grace the city of Atlanta in October. Will this sell out? If not I don’t know why. The pixies haven’t been together in over 10 years. And this is the whole crew from Black to Deal. So get ready, the tickets go on sale tommorrow. 10AM. And that’s right, its Misconstrued that got you the word!

See other places they will play (Austin, Chicago)

(In the News) Nauw isnt dat my wittle wittle artist?

OK, I've always thought I would never talk baby talk to my baby. I mean what is the point? I figure hey this would stunt the kids ability to communicate. (But of course I do plan to teach my kids to read holding there books upside down. I mean wouldn’t that be unique... Its bound to help them as there mind is caused to transition to hold the book upright once they get to school) But anyways... back to the main subject

Baby talk. Is it of value? Well a new study shows there could be a link between appreciation for the arts (music/poetry/etc) and baby talk. It has been found that the same patterns in baby talk mimic those of metrics and phonetics found in poetry and music. In other words we are singing to our children (and as my Mom will always will inform you ... its good to sing to your kids (Although I would always cover my ears... saying stop stop) ).

So if you want more creative kids, ones who are well rounded... talk to them in baby talk I guess.... It helps the development of both the emotional and cognitive parts of the brain.

And to help teach those lil geniuses, I recommend you read them the news; Use this link to get started.

Naow...isn't that right... yes it is... yes it is... that’s right

The little Known of the Well Known

IMG_5701 (Small).JPG

Well a trip to the great state of North Carolina was quiet enjoyable. Seems my sister Stephanie has moved into the hear of whats good about the Appalachain Mountains. Minutes from Biking/Kayaking/Trout Fishing/White Water Rafting/Hiking/Sking... etc etc.

20 Minutes from there front door puts you at Cataloochee the hidden treasure of the smokies. A bit like Cades Cove with old homesteads in a mountain surrounded valley full of open fields. We took the opportunity to do a little bike riding on a blissfully perfect sping day. Mike of Course had to show off. And while not of the same caliburStephanie gave her best at following Suite But one thing is certain, she didnt end up in the same shape that Mike did.

On a further note, did you know Elk have been released in the smokies? What man, in man like fashion, destroyed several decades ago; they now are trying to reintroduce. Roughly 50 elk now stroll the mountains we call the smokies. We did get a glimpse of them. Very interesting, and unique this was. So head up to the smokies, and check it out... find the little known parts of the Most Visisted National Park in the US.

Mike n Ike (minus the Ike) Friday

mike.jpg

Ah, once upon a time the Myers family incorporated a new member into there family.... his name was Mike. Ok well maybe its more that my sister was incorporated as a Erdlejack (or however you spell that name... yes its bad I cant spell my sisters name anylonger).

Anyway, welcome to Mike Friday, the hardest working guy at playing out there. OK maybe not, but a runner up? This weekend I'm headed up to visit them in there new Casa...

So Last week I find out Mike is giving birth... well the nearest thing to it for us in the guy world ... you know passing a stone. Mike was the proud father to the little gem you see in the picture below. He survived the ordeal... and it appears no more children are planed in the family. (I forget the name of this one... but the last name is difficult enough).

DSCF0045 (Small) (WinCE).jpg

OK really I've not had a chance to be around Mike a whole lot, but he is a character ... thats for sure. Need conversation? He can invent it. Need music? He can invent it. Need an Opinion with supposed Knowledge? He can invent it. Need to beat someone at Monopoly.... yeah thats right Mike... bring it on... you suffered desimation at the hands of the cruel Monopoly Lord Sir Jerm... Till Next Time.

Oh even though he may not admit it to some people... he is a huge video game addict.

Oh and when the day comes they have kids... with these genes... Oh boyWho Knows what they'll look like. This was a vision that Mike had by using a picture of his Nephew.... The Ernobot.

Add you stories about Mike, or what you can find on the net. How many Erdljacs could there be... then again who can figure how to spell it?

In the News

Seems you never know how freedom will last, especially in some countries. It has been all over the news this week about the rulling of a Moscow Court To Ban Witnesses. (Of course since I am TV inept... I missed on this information, but the internet has gotten me back up to speed. It was even in the Huntsville Times. But my study got me up to speed).

Moscow Court Bans Jehovah's Witnesses from Practicing in City

OSCOW, March 26 — After six years of civil proceedings, a court here on Friday banned activities by Jehovah's Witnesses in what members of the group said could be a first step toward a nationwide ban.

A spokesman for the Christian religious group said the decision would be appealed. But he said the ruling increased the danger of violent attacks directed at Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia and other former Soviet areas.

The spokesman, Christian Presber, said the group, which is federally registered, had 11,000 adherents in Moscow and 133,000 throughout Russia. Since the first trial started, in 1998, he said, city authorities have repeatedly frustrated its attempts to buy or rent places to hold worship services.

In 1999, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a monitoring body made up of European legislators, warned, "The case is a cause of concern for other religious groups who also expect to be banned if the Jehovah's Witnesses were to lose."

Mr. Presber said, "The prosecutor said in open court that this is just the beginning. When she's banned the Jehovah's Witnesses in Moscow, the goal is to start the process for the rest of Russia."

He said the basis for the ruling involved a 1997 law on freedom of conscience and religious association that the prosecutor interpreted as showing that the group was an "antistate organization."

A lawyer for the group, Artur Leontyev, said the case did not deal with any alleged incidents of wrongdoing but rather with the question of whether the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses were legitimate.

"This question has already been decided numerous times by the European Court, which ruled that it is not within a state's prerogative to examine the legitimacy of religious beliefs, much less pass sentence on them," he said, referring to the European Court of Human Rights.

A Canadian legal counsel for the Moscow group, John Burns, said the grounds for the ruling were cited as "inciting religious discord, breaking up families, violating individual Russian citizens' rights, inclining people to commit suicide and luring teenagers and minors."

He said that the allegations were not supported by evidence and that studies and testimony presented to the court refuted them.

"The big concern is what the extremists are going to do in Moscow and Russia when they hear about this decision," Mr. Burns said. "How many people are we going to see beaten up?"

Human rights groups say religious and racial intolerance have become intertwined with notions of nationalism in Russia.

In a report issued on Friday, the Moscow Bureau on Human Rights, an independent monitoring group, said that according to polls it had conducted, about 60 percent of people living in Russia "have a xenophobic attitude and agree that representatives of ethnic minorities should be barred from political life and from living in large cities."

It added, "An estimated 5 to 6 percent are ready to carry out pogroms."

In 2001 a Moscow court ruled in favor of the Jehovah's Witnesses, but the case was reinstated and proceedings resumed after an appeal by the prosecutor's office.
