Another Round of Bad Music
Huntsville a music Scene? hardly...
True there was that one time that rasputina came to town... and actually Incubus played...
But seems there was a turning point in Huntsville music History.... a few years ago Filter was to play and cacelled from big spring Jam..
I've never been since.
Why?
Pathetic at best.... there may be an ok band or there ... but all of the ok (key word ok) bands have already played Huntsville in the last 2 years.
So to you Mr. Big Spring Jam Organizer I don't salute you... I say i'll be off to Nashville for better shows.

When you told me Nickle Creek was playing, I was optimistic. When I saw the rest of the lineup, I was pretty disapointed. Its pretty sad this year. You know, the one year I skipped was the year Incubus played. But they have some open slots still. Maybe they can land Nick Lachey.

Jill had invited me down to visit and go to BSJ, since we have almost NOTHING like that In Ohio. I almost bought my plane ticket- until I saw the lineup. It's a ewww on all fronts.

It IS pretty disappointing. I remember when groups were pretty good that came around. Seven Mary Three. 3 Doors Down..when they were big. DIdn't the FOo Fighters come one year? Anyway..think I was pretty young too..so maybe why it was good groups to me? Oh yeah saw the Dixie Chicks (pre anti Bush) back in my country listenin' days.
Haven't been in a few years though.

I wonder why they don't just have six really good bands. Three every day. You can still have the local ones on another stage, but instead of trying to have twenty acts, just get three incredible bands for each day, and have three on the rise bands and then let local acts open up for them and play throughout the day. That's gotta be cheaper than what they're trying to do.

its a good question... although I wonder what these bands get paid? ... I say most get little to nothing.. so probably little cost... I wonder what a bigger band gets.. ha well these "bigger bands"

I agree. THat would be better I think. But I guess they like having such a mix of oldies, country, rock, locals.
But really they are all groups that had like one hit. Cowboy Mouth. They were big like 9-10 years ago. Saw them at a Nashville festival. I was 14. Remember that song? "Jenny says turn off the radio.."

Concert prices are strange (I was on the programming board at the University of Akron for 3 years) The prices for an artist range from
Blessid Union of Souls at $7,500, to Fallout Boy (pre Sugar we're going down) $12,500, Vanessa Carlton, $10,000, and Ben Folds (who I said we should've gotten) at about 10-20,000.
Of course the grand-daddy of all College Jam bands, DMB, starts at $100,000- and that's if their on tour!

Just saw DMB in Nashville last night. Their albums are okay to me. Some good songs, some so-so. But live, they are pretty much great.

I'd go to BSJ for Boyz II Men alone, and if you guys wouldn't, you're all morons. MORONS!!!!
