Quote Wednesday (And whats ur name?)

"The brother in the back next to my ugly cousin"

-WT conductor Sunday

ALso here is a very cool site:

Just enter your name, it will show how many had ur name per million in each decade. Also shows its rank among names:

Mine:

Jeremy: Peaked at 24th in the 70's now it ranks 103rd.

Dwight: Peaked 152nd in the 50's now its ranked 928th.

Another interesting site tells the meaning of your name and the origin.

Of course my name is an English version of Jeremiah meaning Jah has uplifted.

Check out your name and middle name, and post the results... (oh and if you wanna do some quotes too.

Comments

Nathan: Currently Peaking (2003) at 27

Autumn: currently ranking at 76

Roux: never has made it on the list, so I guess that kinda makes me happy

Ana - Currently 127th

Priscilla - Peaked at 146th in 1940's and now its 287th

I typed in my last name then I realized...it's a last name of course it won't be on here! oops!

Javann, not on the list. Typical.

Lamar, 783 since 4003. However it seriously peaked in the 1980's at 283. Ironically enough, that's when I got the name.

Actually if you look Javann... Javen is ranked in 2003, i looked it up...its like 900 something. So there ya go, poeple are starting to name there kids after you...

Patricia - 3rd in the 50's now its ranked 289.

Alejandra - not even in the top 1000 in the 60s, now its 182.

Interesting, never knew my first name was so popular in the 50s...the only reason I got that name is because my sister wanted to name me after Peppermint Patty. ;)

Jason was 3rd in the 70's, 42nd now. And Daniel was 6th in 80's and 8th now. I feel so generic.

Darcie is ranked 811 in the 1970's.. not on the scale anymore...

Darcy is 457 in the 1970's.... and isn't in the scales anymore...

Leia wasn't even in the vocabulary...

but Leah ranked 83 in 2003...

my name is just off the scales...

Darcy: From a Norman surname meaning "from Arcy" from French D'Arcy, originally denoting one who came from Arcy in France. This is the surname of a character in Jane Austen's novel 'Pride and Prejudice'.

usually it just means... Dark one... in other books

Leia... From the Hebrew name Le'ah which was probably derived from the Hebrew word la'ah meaning "weary". Alternatively it might mean "mistress" or "ruler" in Assyrian. In the Old Testament she was the first wife of Jacob and the mother of seven of his children.

so basically i'm tired and dark

Interesting, Tremaine is on the list. Peaked in the 80's with a rank of 815. But now no one has my name. Which mean, in time, I'll be like one of those people whose name sound old like Mabel or Adolph. Probably a good reason for Adolph though. He just ruined a perfectly good name. So did Jezebel. Lee peaked at 72 in the 1900 but is still in the top 1000. Maybe I should start going by Lee.

Then there are names that sound so old that they are back in style. Like Hannah. Hannah, you should thank your parents for having the foresight to name you with, what was then, a futuristic name so it would be in style today.

I think that is the key. Name your kid with a name that is really ahead of its time so when they get to adulthood, they can have a cool name. I'm naming my kids Xenon or Xenona.

And also, if Diarrhea didn't mean what it meant, wouldn't it be a nice name.

hmmm well everyone thought of Jeremy at the same time ... DOH! and uh... yeah maybe in the future that word will mean somethin else Tre... go ahead and name ur kids that.

Tremaine's kids are going to get beat up in school...They will throw things at Diarrhea Tucker.

"Hey Judi did you hear?...we have to try and not laugh..but the pope died tonight.."~

- Lea in Portugal(a highly catholic country)..we did crack up after that as well, and it was in a restaurant, i dont know what came over us.

" you know its "that time of the month," when you are considering stealing that little kids bag of cookies"

- lea while passing by a little boy with cookies in his hand.

"mmhmmm....yes...mhmmm...okay"

- the bookstudy conductor last night who was portugese and did not understand one thing we were saying to him in english, so that is all he could say.

"Judi?.....umm jude you're in the boys washroom!!"

Me, yelling at judi, after a 16 hour train ride. Much screaming persued from Judi.

"I'm scorchin!!!" (said like the rock from Be Cool)

Judes, while touching her face, which looked like a 3rd degree burn, after a day at the beach.

"Wyatt" was uncool in the 1970's at #657 but is gaining a bit currently at #111 !
Means "brave in war", derived from Old English wig "war" and heard "brave, hardy". Wyatt Earp was an American lawman and gunfighter involved in the famous shootout at the OK Corral.
SO take that...

Yeah, so I didn't learn anything new about what my name meant, but it was interesting to know that it's becoming popular (ranked 81 in 2003 after having been in the 800's in the 50's).

So here's what my name (Seth) means:

Means "placed" or "appointed" in Hebrew. In the Old Testament he was the third son of Adam and Eve, and forefather of the entire human race.

Greek form of Egyptian Set or Setekh, which possibly meant "pillar" or "dazzle". Seth was the evil Egyptian god of chaos, the slayer of Osiris.

Apparently all this means I will father an entire race of anarchists?

Amber peaked in 1980 at 13, 2003 came in at 74. Weird considering the whole time I was in elementry school there was only one other Amber in the whole school. It denotes either fossilized tree resin or orange yellow colour.

Marie peaked in the 1900's at number 8 and in 2003 ranks at 496. It is the form of Maria and the meaning is not known for certain. Several theries are "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", and "wished for child". It is most likely an Egyption name derived in part from "my beloved" or "love"

mallory - currently at 234

means "unlucky" or "messenger of war"

pearl - last seen in the 1970's, ranked 990

Jonathan peaked in the 80s at 17. It means Jehovah has given. My middle name fell off the charts in 2003 evidently.

I am pretty sure that no one has the combination first name of Donato Alphonse like I do, but neither have been seen in the past half century, and never together.

As for their meanings:

From the Late Latin name Donatus meaning "given". Several early saints had this name. The name was also borne by two Renaissance masters: the sculptor Donato di Niccolo di Bette Bardi (also known as Donatello), and the architect Donato Bramante.

and

Spanish and Italian form of a Germanic name meaning either "noble and ready" or "battle ready", from adal "noble" or hild "battle" combined with funs "ready". This was the name of six kings of Portugal and kings of several ancient regions of Spain.

"You're all scared and stiff
A sick stolen gift
And the people that you're with
They're all scared and stiff

And I wanted to be...I wanted to be... your good friend"

D.A., a Saint given to battle

Joshua peaked in the 80s currently in the states ranked 3rd and in canada and austrailla and wales its 2 nd. The name meaning ''Jehovah (YAWEH) is salvation.''

I know i forgot the H. lol :)

My name is currently peaking at #1! Do I win some kind of prize for that?;) And it is also the medieval feminine form of Aemilius which means 'rival'.

Yes you win. Now, the fight for second.

Well. The first sight won't let me through for some reason. I found out that Skyler means or stands for "Scholar" Didn't see that coming! Would somebody be so kind to see what rank Skyler and Thomas is? I would be appreaiate it!

Whoops! not sight, i meant to put web"site" :D

ah the scholar...

anyway its a more popular name now than ever... ranks 234 as a boys name 279 as a girls name

and speled skylar it ranks 147 as a girls name, 414 as a boys name.

Before the 80's it didn't exist.

This isn't really a quote, but I will say it anyway. If you guys have time Put your foot on the surface (chair, bed, or couch) then bend your knee as you are sitting straight up. Doesn't the crease in your leg right under your knee cap look really funny!! Just thought I would mention that..

Oh 1 more. This is from the Noble Prize winning book " The Best Metephors for Life" By Ashley K. Bone, " The grass will grow if you water it." This is one of my deepest metephors for life, try it!!!!!

Thomas: ranks 36 today. i carry my name from my grandfather and when he was born it was ranked 8 in popularity. means "twin". no twins unless you consider kathryn such. which some people do. just told today that we looked a lot alike. her name means "each of the two". so maybe she is the consecration of both of us. very likely.

Tommy: (what most of you call me) ranks 392 now. ranked 237 when i was born.

pretty cool stuff.

Thanks for doing Thomas for me tommy! I too also have the privledge of having my grandfather's name as well. Now i know the rank! Hey tommy! guess that means were twins!

Tommy and Sky,

My parents couldn't decided which of their hard-headed Italian fathers to name me after...so they picked both.

Hence, D.A.

You would think it was a compromise.

I didn't think that Thomas was still being well used. I always thought i had an old-fashioned name. but #36 in 2003 ain't bad. And apparently we're multiplying since there's three different Thomas' on this topic already.

Interesting!!

Becky peaked in the 60's at 141 and is defined: "Pet form of Rebecca."
So even though my name is just Becky here is what Rebecca means: "From the Hebrew name Ribqah, possibly meaning "a snare" in Hebrew, or perhaps derived from an Aramaic name. This was the name of the wife of Isaac and the mother of Esau and Jacob in the Old Testament." It peaked in the 70's at 13 in the US.
Lynn (my middle name) is defined: "From an English surname which derives from Welsh llyn "lake". It can also be a short form of LINDA or names which end in lyn or line." It peaked at 67 in the 50's.

Cool site, although I don't know if I like knowing my name possibly came from a word that means a snare :(

So not much to say on my name

Kristen ~ ranked 38 in the 1980's
Ranked 226 in 2003

German form of Christina, feminine form of Christian.
Christina was the name of a Swedish queen of the 17th century who was interested in the arts and philosophy. She gave up her crown to be a Roman Catholic.

Sommer(middle name) typed it in and the site said this: "no names starting with sommer were in the top 1000 names in ANY decade. type backspace." ~GREAT! They should have just said..LEAVE!! Tell your parents to learn how to spell!!

So I tried Summer and it ranked 154 in 2003..223 in the 80s.

Sommer- German form of Summer- simply means "summer" from the english name of the season.

brent - 85th in the 70s

bertha - Derived from the Germanic element beraht meaning "bright, famous". This is the name of a character in German legends who sneaks into nurseries and rocks children to sleep

hah, the graph is high in the early 1900s and died by the 50s

funny

Gabrielle, was popular in the early 90's and 80's, which really surprises me because I've only net like one or teo other Gabrielles'!! Also Louise... wasn't popular after the early 80's!!
