A sign of things to come?

And thanx to the internet you can hear it...

Good song by Radiohead. Ever heard the songs they did with Portishead?
Okay..so many of you don't know me..But (as I was telling some of the Huntsville kids yesterday at Cracker Barrel)..Jack Johnson is coming semi-close to our area. Thought I'd post the dates..see if we could get up a group to go..

I read about that new song. It's one of Jonny's solo things featuring Thom, so it's not Radiohead per se... But is it a sign of things to come? No doubt.

Yeah, I'm down for some Jack Johnson. I only heard a few of his songs but I liked it. The April dates are a no go for me though. Got the QB that weekend. And also, Kyle and Sara are getting hitched that weekend. That's a busy weekend. As for the September time frame. I'm in for that. Only problem is is that I'll be in NC but I'm sure I could maybe take a long weekend since it is Labor Day weekend and kick it in the ATL. You know, Britney Spears and Radiohead should collaborate with the Backstreet Boys.

Me and Jared are going over to Memphis for Memphis in May (aka Bealle Street Music Festival. Just like a Big Spring Jam in Huntsville. Its right by the river, so its kinda cool. A bunch of my friends in Memphis have a big group going, I think the lineup includes like Seether, Chevelle, Crossfade, and of course Kristen's Jack Johnson. So if anybody wants to hitch a ride or follow us over let me know

Yay. Let's do it..Let's go to the Atlanta show! Haven't been to a concert since Dashboard Confessionals and Weezer came to Nashville.. I just picked up the new Jack Johnson cd..you guys should hear it.
And even though the movie is 'r' and we don't see those.. The Garden State soundtrack..it's another good buy..

Yes I want to take Amtrak, and I think that the Radiohead song is very good. Always a new direction for those boys with their craniums in the airwaves. It wasn't just a Johnny side thing though, because the lyrics were on their official site before they ever performed the song and were posted mysteriously (as always) by Dr. Chock (aka thom).
Also Jack Johnson at the Worlds Fair Park in Knoxville should be a very good show. It's just a few days before the fireworks too. It's a nice place to see the type of show where you just sit and listen to the music (in other words, not pressing forward through a screaming, surging throng to get closer to the stage). Plus it's right down the hill from The Candy Factory so that you can get your chocolate covered cherry on or walk across the railroad tracks and go play in the waterfountains.

At cleanflicks.com you can rent Garden State. It's a really good movie. Kind of a slow moving movie but the whole self-discovery of the main character is interesting to follow.

I really enjoyed the first Jack Johnson cd, the second was ok, but I can't get into the third...the problem is that after 4 years of listening to him and 3 cds, all of his stuff starts to sound the same, not similar, but exactly the same. All that being said, it is still great music to sit around and listen to and do absolutely nothing...so the Knoxville thing sounds like it would be a score. If you like Jack Johnson/Ben Harper sounding stuff, check out the link below...

hmmm..not heard him... and honestly this portion of the genre has not yet inspired me... but in time most things grow. (key word most)
As for the comment on radiohead tre... you are now banned from the site
as for portishead... love em... they have a very awesome dvd out...
radiohead/portishead...hmm not sure i have that... i have something they claim is pj harvey and thom... then of course unkle with radiohead (dj shadow)... i think they did some stuff with portishead too...
and the great song, with bjork... love that one
but dont worry kristin.. most people dont know each other on here (then well one day you'll be walking down the street in hawaii or new york city and they will say... oh ur kristy on misconstrued... )
its all good
and many good shows comin up btw...
Sunday here we come!

DA, i think you just plugged knoxville. but ill probably end up at the show for lack of something better to do, it should be a good show.
in other news if anyone has extra tickets to The Mars Volta show in Atlanta at the end of the month i would love to buy them off of you.

That song with Bjork was good, in fact, I hum that from time to time when I pass train tracks. I still want to see them in concert, despite having to sell my firstborn son into slavery to afford it.

You know what would be an amazing show?
Portis Head
Bjork
Radiohead

Oh and on this matter of trains... hey now maybe we'll get even greater discounts! EXCELLENT!
Posted by: itzjerm | April 4, 2005 10:28 PM
wow, the worlds fair park sounds like a really cool place to go, especially if there is great music and chocolate too! although i've not heard much of jack johnson, but he reminds me a lot of john mayer. hmmm...i think i will miss the excitment of the norm concert atmosphere though.
i'm not a music master like the rest of you ;) but the radiohead song isn't my fav. it sounds like a fugue and i can actually understand, somewhat anyway, what they are singing hehe. i like their older songs where it can be left to my imagination
Posted by: kathryn | April 4, 2005 10:38 PM
Well Jack Johnson isn't in comparison to Portishead..my fav. in that music category..( although if Zero 7 is in the same category..they're climbing in the good list)I'd label Jack Johnson as the Hawaiian/Hippie/Surfer musician..even though Darcia told me she read he's from Canada..what an oxy moron that is..
Yes..the radiohead/portishead concert would be great..haven't really listened to Bjork..But since this has turned into band suggestion central...does anyone remember Flemming and John?? circa 1999ish..??
Posted by: Kristen | April 4, 2005 11:40 PM
yep fleming and john had some good albums.. i liked the one that started with her playing as a little girl... ah ... hardly started as the recomend of bands... that conversation will never end... zero 7... i've had there album a good while... but not listened to it... i'll have to give it a whirl... ok a data packeting... I got the doves new album.. seems like a worthy album.

Ah...radiohead. Good music.
Has anyone heard the piano version of "Everything in its right place?"
Posted by: Ben Williams | April 5, 2005 09:14 AM
Ben,
Do you mean the Radiohead piano version, or the composer version? I can't remember the composers name (Christopher something...Riley?), but if you want a great piano version of a radiohead song WITH Radiohead, the version of Spinning Plates on the I Might Be Wrong EP is amazing.
As for Knoxville, I love the city. Trheaatd'bse tawlele nIt hhealvien etso say about that.

The composer version- I may have to spin the radiohead version too!

Thom played "Blowout" with the guys from the Posies, but "They've" never done anything with Portishead
