William Shatner Friday? What Why?

So often people are like "You work at NASA? You must like Star Trek" Honestly I abhor star trek. Sorry. But you must admit William Shatner is the king of using his name to boldly go where he should not go...
Case in Point:
His Music Career!
Yes I said music career. In a film in the last few years he sung a song which combined elements of hip hop and a Shakespearean sonnet. But that music goes back further to the 60's and 70's. He basically would stand up and speak classic songs... destroying them on a level that makes even Wesley Willis look like a genius musician. (Good Example this horrible Recording of the Beatles-Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds)
But he has returned! He has teamed up with Ben Folds (Producer)... and other famous artist (for example Henry Rollins (Yes Henry Rollins)). To produce his new album Has Been.
I must say there is something eerie that makes this almost work though. His Version of Common People (By Pulp) (He sings with Joe Jackson the 80's great new wave singer)... This song is... well just horrible... so horrible that I have listened to it 4 times now. (in case you've never heard the original it is here. (probably not the best song itself)..)
You can check out all the songs on amazon....
So go to the Has Been site... give it a listen ... give it a reveiw... i want to hear your thoughts. (The site has several songs on it from the album)
Enjoy... and be inspired... This once again makes me realize that Bouybee Uybee is a true artist!

Okay, so I grew up watching Star Trek, and was around The Next Generation in my formative year, but I still had a kind of respect for the original Star Trek. You have to give William Shatner credit, he just won't seem to let his career die, BUT, I think this singing thing is going a bit tooooo far!! I mean, c'mon! What is he, nuts?! But hey, that's just my 2 cents...

I just now listened to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds for the first time and now I just wish I hadn't. I mean, wow. That's horrible. I'd honestly rather listen to that bouybee album. Or even a Blink 182 album.

Ben Folds producing this cd doesn't suprise me. He and Cpt. Kirk have been good friends since Ben Folds' Fear of Pop solo project. At least Shatner's cd has good production. He needs all the help he can get.

*Shatner speak* You...must BE...kidding me..about...THIS...particular issue. From what...I-have-heard...my favorite show...Babylon 5...which is...FAR...superior is far more popular..with NASA employees...than...Star Trek.
