Bouybee Uybee? "You're a Sell Out"
Those words rang in my ears this weekend, as I was professed to be a sell out. What brought these deep reaching words (which actually means I have something to sell out... I was once cool? hmm interesting)
What was it? Well It was the end of my bagpipe career. An attempted sell of the ol bagpipes on ebay led to a nice profit, and sell... and thus the purchase of a guitar. Yes, in many ways going from bagpipes to guitar does sound like a sell out I agree. But at least I know how to tune the guitar. I challenge anyone, tell me how to tune bagpipes? Very complicated.
But no fear. I still have my kilt.
Yet I believe the guitar will once again be used to prove I am not a sell out. In fact I was able to record 5 songs in a matter of 30 minutes this weekend. (In the style I call accoustic Wesley Willis).
I will be recording under the name Bouybee Uybee (pronounced Bob Ub).
Today Is your lucky day as I post a cover of Blurs Song 3
I'll give you one more tune... about postage rates... (If you listen to it 4x you'll never get it out of your head (like most Wesley Willis Songs).)
Bouybee Uybee - A Post Office Song
So if anyone wants to see any more songs (sparatic/dramatic/erratic) is a great one. Let me know, and I'm now looking to play shows too... my calendar is pretty open right now.

Yeah, I agree going to the Guitar must sound like you're selling out, but everybody has to start somewhere. "Selling Out" has a lot more to do with what the music you make with the instrument. Somehow I don't see you becoming another Korn, Jet or Nirvana. I'm pretty sure you're safe in the Selling Out department. In fact, the only time I can remember you selling out is when Jon and I gave you a dollar to eat an entire pack of Listerine Pocket Pack Strips at once. Yeah, that was great.....

Cool! What kind of guitar did you purchase? I saw an advertisement awhile back featuring the Esteban Steel String Guitar. It was reasonably priced, so I got one. It came with an automatic tuner,Allen key,Esteban CD, and 2 videos of Estebans instruction. He studied under Andres Segovia (famous for his technique with classical guitar). I've never heard Segovia's stuff, but after seeing/hearing Esteban on the video, I must say the guy truly is an artist. It was amazing. He was playing one rhythm solely on the neck of the guitar, while at the same time playing another more fast paced rhythm with the other hand on the guitar. It was masterful. Maybe a few thousand years into the new system, I could achieve that...MAYBE. I still haven't got all the chords down, nor have I built up enough callus on my finger tips to achieve a clear, crisp sound. (23 is a bit too old to be sucking my thumb or other fingers.)Anyway, I wish you well in your venture to master your instrument. May you be far more successful at it than me.

After listening to that I think you now have me liking country music again.

Yeah, that was actually pretty folksy.... or americana-ish. But I thought that both songs were pretty cool. And yes, I paid for your dinner that night, so you technically owe me $6.89..... but we'll let it slide.

Hey, rememeber who produced those gems, Jerm. After I left your house yesterday I was mad that I didn't burn your album real quick. I'll have to download them at my house if I ever go home again. E mail me when you get them all online though so I can be prepared.

I feel responsible for Song 3 being horribly sung. I need to return your Blur compilation CD to you. Apparently I've had them so long you've forgotten what the song sounds like. And yeah, you totally sold out.
