STEPH

steph2.jpg

Its everybodys favorite day ... Friday ... No... meet someone you dont know (or do know) friday! Yay!

Today we meet (or revisit) Stephanie ... aka Steph. (We have a habbit of shortning names inmy family Darc, Steph, Jerm)

Hmm where to start, I mean when you enter the realm of immediate family, the stories abound. Lets work with a little tension... ah yes family trips. Of course there was the family trip to California that took us to 24 National Parks in 2 weeks... 1 week in steph had enough. Some quotes from that trip "Its just another stupid Waterfall" "Its just Trees" "If you dont stop saying everything is pretty I'm gonna kill you" Ah good times good times.

Steph is usually up to ideas I'd come up with... View image... But often she would wonder what I had decided for us to do, but thinking twice was often not an option...View image...

But thats to be expected... she talked me into to some ideas too! The time she said "Lets build a ice skate rink" I reluctantly agreed. But it was obvious to me the idea would not work... pack up snow then spray water in it and let it freeze? I abandoned support (but not for long) Quickly I found a shovel to my head, for not supporting the effort... The joys of being 7. (Explains much now eh?)

Then there was the trip to Canada one winter... I'll drive in the snow ... she stated. Well after that first 720 degree turn on the interstate, that was over. (We survived, and about 5 minutes later she realized what had happened). I drove in the snow back "Oh Jeremy Jeremy"... I'll Never forget looking up and seeing everything spinning, including headlights coming toward us.

Oh makes me think of another driving incident, we were late for the meeting in North Carolina, and there was the idea of taking that blind curve on the inside... wooo I never want to see a semi truck from that angle again!

But hey its been some good times, and thanks for bein my sis, n laughin with me.... you know like we used to play basketball at 10 PM just cuz we knew we would end up delirious, laughing so hard because we were tired!

And thanks for dragging me everywhere all those years... to think I didnt even want to travel used to.... oh and thanks for that Blueberry cake you make... man that stuff rules... oh and that calazone.. you've not made those in a long time... ok sorry got distracted.

Good times good times. Good Ol Steph.

Add your stories about Stephanie! I have way to many... way way to many.... way way way .. ok you get the idea.

So did that picture ever made it on Jones soda??

I remember a little travel story as well. We were driving in Africa and Steph proceeds to tell us that she is so tired that nothin could excite her. 2 seconds after that she jumps up out of a deep comatose excited to see a running hippo!! There was also the time when we decided to act out different animals and Steph picked a giraffe. (jerm don’t you have video of that?)….. guess you just had to be there.

Steph always has something to say, at the right moment (or the not so right moment ) that makes you die laughing :) She’s always there to help wherever she’s needed. She has given me a listening ear many times! Thanks girl…. Love ya forever!

Stephanie Stephanie Stephanie. I am glad she found her a man, for one thing. I remember sitting in the dark in the Greenville Kingdom Hall coat room (I couldn't have been more than 4 or 5...and that would have made her at LEAST 32...) and she was the only one who came in to ask me what was wrong. I looked up at her and said, "I'm depressed". Ahhhhhhh, startin' 'em early, this last generation.

Then there was the time right before all of you kids ran off to Africa that Jill (welcome back! Missed you!), Darc, my cousin Mantonio, Steph, and myself were sitting on the floor in the Travel section of Borders, looking at books on the Dark Continent and voicing how exciting their trip was going to be. The question came up while flipping through some pages as to what they were going to bring home with them. Stephanie didn't really say anything, and then about 5 minutes later, and in the middle of a dead silence, while looking at a picture of some local wildlife, she said in that wonderfully sweet southern drawl, and with the utmost sincerity:

"I'm gonna bring me home a mun'-key..."

I wet myself with laughter.

Much love Steph!

D.A.

Stephanie has that same ability... to wet herself with laughter... quiet often... like that time we were whitewater rafting... remember tahts not just water in the bottom of the boat always...

What a beautiful person ... those are always my first thoughts regarding Stephinie. Not just outward beauty although there is that... but the inner beauty to me has always been what comes through first. She always makes me want to smile when I see her. Even though she's well known for her driving skills (did I say skills) she's also well known for skills as a pioneer. I don't think I ever got to tell her how much of an encouragement she was as a pioneer. I hope that some day she will be able to do so again in her life. I have to admit I was beginning to wonder if I would live to see the day when she would be interacting with a family of her own and now she has Mike !! We are soooo happy for that because we can see how happy he makes her and because we want Dwight and Mona to be grandparents sometime in the future. No Rush Though !! We Miss You Here in Greeneville though. Your 2nd family !!

steph must just have thing for wildlife then. because a long time ago, she took darc, tara, and me to some little disney thing on ice. and on the way home this huge great dane runs out in front of the car, as steph slams on the brakes, and screams " A giraffe!!!" (oh and we weren't in africa. just east tennessee)

Oh i remember Disney on ice too!! hehe. but i just remember us opening up the back doors while she was driving and then her fussing at us:) the speaking of long family trips... i remember while we were out in california several years ago, stephanie started crying! why? "Nobody will fight with me!" But then there are teh many glasses and plates and other corning wear that she has dropped and smashed... then let me tell you abotu the criminal stephanie... so we are at the mall shopping in hunstville. i tried on a sweater at American Eagle and couldnt' decide whether i wanted it or not.. so i told stephanie to hold it for me. well i decided not to get it. well later we are in bath and body works.. and i say to stephanie... ' um what do you have"... she still had that sweater on her arm! so we had to go back to AE.. and ask then not to prosicute we didn't mean to steal anything... well... speaking of trying on clothes.. there was this one time that we were sharing a dressing room, and stephanie said the funniest thing... and so i fell to the ground laughing, smashing her toe in the process... she still fusses at me for that.. now speaking of sharing.. we had to share a bed all our life, until i was in middle school when she moved out... well that was a fight every night... she would yell at me for stealing all the covers, then i would tell at her for trying to put her cold feet on me... and then somewhere in the middle of the night i would find myself awakening smashed between the wall and the bed. but sharing a bed had it's pluses... she always used to tell me "Choose your own adventure" stories while we were lying there. and finally.... a trip we took to the beach with our grandparents. that was a trip... stephanie always wanted Yoo Hoo drink.. and my grandmother always calling it Ya Hoo drink... and lets' not even get started on all the times i thought i was gonna die when i was riding with her... like today for instance... when she about ran in front of this little old lady speed demon... "oh i thought this was a four way stop" ... i love ya steph.. you are a trip...

ah yes good ole steph, many good stories. where to start, I think thay all can be summed up in steph's motto { go on take the pizza and run}

Well... I don't have as much to add as everyone else but I've just got to say I think that Steph's giraffe impression was one of the top 10 funniest things that I've EVER seen. Everybody besides Jilly and Jerm - you MISSED OUT.. yikes that was funny. And I can honestly say that I didn't mind being stuck in the backseat of a car with her for 8 hours a day driving along the lovely backroads of Africa! There aren't many people that wouldn't inspire hatred at that point ;-}
