So the world should soon be coming to an end. Why? 1) We played trivia pursuit and I got 2 out of 3 of the sports questions. 2) I am now recommending a movie. In fact I watched a movie this past week. But no no… it goes much further. I watched a movie two times last week! THE SAME MOVIE!
Those who know me, know I’m not much a movie person. And only a classic would I ever watch more than once (But twice in one week. That is unheard of!)
For a few months people have said to me… Jeremy, You have to see Napoleon Dynamite, its your kind of movie. Well the last time I heard that was Raising Arizona a few years back. (I really didn’t like that movie). But Napoleon Dynamite… it’s a classic.
Are we talking classic like the level of Search for the Holy Grail, Princes Bride (Two of the most quotable movies of all time) or a level like Dr. Strangelove (One of the Quirkiest, Weird movies of all time) or a level like Dumb and Dumber (One of the Dumbest, roll on the floor laughing movies of all time)? Well that I have not determined. I think its somewhere between all those.
pointless.. just random thoughts... weird quirky acting. But one of the most quotable movies! Its so funny I still almost don't know why it is...
After seeing it two times, I just laughed just as hard.
Yep i give it thumbs up... Watch Napoleon Dynamite and all your wildest dreams will come true.
GO SEE IT! (And watch the trailor here)
Oh, and if you saw it… well leave your thoughts… good or not ... just say yay or nay.
Oh and one other question at hand. Does Brent look like Kip (top right)? Another hotly debated topic!
I've seen Napoleon Dynamite like infinity times, it is awesome, it's incredible, it makes me want to wear moon boots. So yeah, I guess you can say I enjoyed this movie. Oh, and I have just one question for you: "Do the chickens have large talons?"
Posted by: CJ at January 3, 2005 09:06 AMNapoleon Dynamite is pretty sweet...it's awesome...it's....it's incredible!
I love technology, but not as much as you, you see... But I STILL love technology... Always and forever.
-Kip's wedding song
Alright well that's that. I now have no hope in the world anymore. You cut me deep, Jerm.
Posted by: Captian Jonathan!!! at January 3, 2005 09:48 AMThis is definately a classic movie!! We watched it twice last weekend also...I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
This movie is on my TOP 10...mostly cuz it's SOOOO hilarious but it's also very clean...except when Kip and Lafawnduh play footsie...that skeeved me out!
Best Pick up line EVER: I see you're drinking 1%. Is that 'cause you think you're fat? 'Cause you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.
"This is pretty much the worst video ever made."
No, I'm not talking about Napoleon Dynamite. That's just one of the many funny lines from the movie. There are so many line to quote I don't know where to begin. I'll just put a few of my favorites.
"Who's the only one here who knows the illegal ninja moves from the government?" - That was one of the funniest scenes and they cut it from the movie.
"I spent it with my uncle in Alaska hunting wolverines!...I killed like 50 of them. They kept trying to attack my cousins, what the heck would you do in a situation like that?" - That scene is great.
"Whatever I feel like I wanna do, gosh!" - His first lines. Sets the tone for the movie.
Then there are scens you just can't quote but are hilarious. Farmer shoots the cow. Tina. The liger. The tots. Uncle Rico throws the steak. Napoleon trys the time machine.
"You think I got where I am today because I dressed like Peter Pan over here?" - Rex
Definately a great movie.
Oh and Brent and Kip...Heck yes he looks like Kip. Just picture Brent with a flippin' mustache and glasses. Gosh!
Posted by: Tre at January 3, 2005 10:32 AMSo I was still wandering. So I had to put kips mustache and glasses on brent... the end result... well the picture speaks for itself.

Heh, I watched this movie last night and it was great. This is like, the best movie for quotes since "Monty Python and The Holy Grail"!
Posted by: Becky at January 3, 2005 11:44 AMYeah, I haven't seen the film yet. But everybody and their mother have told me this is easily one of the most hilarious films they have ever seen. Easily up there with Kung Pow, Monty Python and Dumb and Dumber. Guess I'll have to break down and rent it - espscially since Blockbuster isn't charging late fees anymore...
Posted by: keats at January 3, 2005 12:20 PMI was wondering when you were going to post something about this fantastic movie. I have never laughed at a character in a movie so much, as I did in this movie(and I'm talking about Kip)
Great movie!
Ah yes. I truly love this movie.
"Tina, come get some ham!"
"Napoleon, don't be jealous cause I've been chatting online with babes all day."
"It took me like 3 hours to get the shading right on your upper lip."
"Is there anyone else home? I'm trying to save for college."-Deb
"Your mom goes to college."-Kip (what was up with that?? is it supposed to be offensive?)
And let's not forget Napoleon's dancing!! "Got canned heat in my heels tonight baby!"
"Try and hit me Napoleon."
I'll have to post my "Which Napoleoen Dyanamite Character are You?" quiz..as soon as I make the final touches on it.
Posted by: CJ at January 3, 2005 04:20 PMyeah i didnt get the your mom comment.. or the intro super hero thrown out the school bus.. but one thing is for sure.. it sets the stage.
Oh and the cut out scenes... that was good stuff... why did they cut them out? Kickball should have stayed! (And maybe hit her upside the head.... (not that i'm promoting such acts.. i just think it would have gotten an even bigger laugh)
But one other thought. This is a classic. (Just don't try to make a sequal... this is a movie that must stand on its own... a sequal would just ruin the uniqueness of the film.
Posted by: itzjerm at January 3, 2005 05:13 PMIts so nice to know that as a dork , I am not alone. I loved the movie and tried to show it to some friends who sadly underappreciated it. Id love to see some Napoleon Quizzes and such. Cant Wait!!!!
Posted by: April at January 3, 2005 06:16 PMwhile all of you have been sitting on your computers chatting online all day, i've been training to become a cage fighter, idiots! gosh!
oh, and by the way, i vote brent for kip look alike
Posted by: Trashy at January 3, 2005 06:35 PMI get a little tear in my eye when someone says they didn't like that movie...and then proceeds to tell me that they enjoyed without a paddle. It truely upsets me.
...Oh and for all you people who love those quotable lines, there is a soundtrack that is fabulous. A lot of sounds bites and LOTS of the cheesy music. I highly recommed it.
Posted by: Autumn at January 3, 2005 09:34 PM...oh and Brent does look like Kip in that picture of him mowing the lawn
Posted by: Autumn at January 3, 2005 09:37 PMHey! I enjoyed Without a Paddle too!
Seriously, though Napoleon Dynamite was an awesome movie. Maybe it's because I myself am a dork?
Nah...:-)
Posted by: Ben Williams at January 3, 2005 09:45 PMwithout a paddle...really?
ok i did laugh when the bear came after him and he was crying, but that was it. I hate when they make those movies so sappy
Posted by: Autumn at January 3, 2005 09:48 PMI do not look like the kip! first of all, I have blond hair and blond mustash hair, and after tomorrow I will have no mustash... yes It is being shaved off
It is tickeling my nosehairs and is bothering me too much, and now this kip thing...
But I would like to le arn how to dance like Napoleon :)

this site is flippin cool!
so i just asked Napoleon if brent looks like Kip.. .He said Sure... strait from the great leaders mouth...
you cant argue with that bro...
Posted by: itzjerm at January 3, 2005 10:28 PMI consider Napoleon to be a very respected indivitual for I was also an FFA club member, though I did not have to compete as he did.... much praise to him for doing so well, it's not easy being a Future Farmer of America you know!!
Posted by: Trashy at January 3, 2005 10:31 PMI was a FA... Farmer of America. But fortunatly we had angus cattle... so no drinking of milk... more of the scene with the school bus.
Posted by: itzjerm at January 3, 2005 10:55 PMI actually heard today that they're making a second one.
Posted by: Captian Jonathan!!! at January 4, 2005 01:27 AMOK... so then it may be removed from my classic stance... unless they really dont try and no one even considers it a sequal like dumber and dumberer.
Posted by: itzjerm at January 4, 2005 07:26 AM"The defect in this one is bleach"
"Correct"
"Yessssss"
(and then the part with Pedro is clasic too)
Posted by: case at January 4, 2005 08:32 AMI've added the link to the quiz in my url, so click on my name and it should lead you there..
Posted by: CJ at January 4, 2005 03:30 PMthe throwing of the warrior out the window was pretty see through in that it's a classic move for very subtle subversion. simply doing something that is forbidden. you can see it when he looks quickly to the driver, then to window, back - pause - throw - look normal...then enjoy the fruits of your own rebellion.
the fact that it is recurrent is confirmed with the boy saying "what are you gonna do today napoleon?" it would have been more clear if they had more than one scene of him on the bus, i think.
the "your mom goes to college" thing baffled me a little bit but is funny because of the way he says it anyways. deb might have been the result of a young birth (if deb and napoloen are sixteen or so, her mom might be 32 say, the same age as kip). it might also be an early sign of kip's later transformation into lafawnduh's "thug." the "yo mom is" is a comment i remember being widely used in high school by certain people, usually in a stupid way, but when it's kip saying it it takes on a different context - funny in it's own right.
probably my favourite comedy movie of all time.
