Ah Luke, we all knew the Friday would come sooner or later. And why not, I mean who is more easy going and likable than Luke? I met/got to know Luke when I lived in Knoxville, we went to the same hall. And since Luke is amused by many things, much like myself, well we got along just swell.
Of course when you think Luke of course you always think car, sunglasses, never ending conversation, and that pocket knife he always has just a reach away. But a good guy ol luke is....
...and he's always up for anything. As you see in the picture above, it may be that he comes down to bama these days, and we end up in the never ending tunnels beneath the surface of Huntsville. Or we may be geocaching, painting decks, or some random activity inbetween. (Of course he's only been my son once in my life... and that was when I was looking for a house in Huntsville (wait I think thats like the first time he went out of state too... oops and I forgot to tell his parents).
Anyways, on whatever Friday it is, you always have to recount a memorable story. Of course there is always the quote I'll never forget. This flour in my eyes, I cant see! (See flour power).
But as for stories, well right before I left Knoxville, a bunch of us went camping up at a lake in the mountains.... Luke was in the back of Nathan’s car, and well the road up to the mountains was extremely curvy to say the least... and we were making good time to say the least. And well.... Luke (or as we called him since that point Puke)... never mentioned he was getting extremely car sick). Finally they caught up with us and recounted the story. As for other stories from that trip.... well we wont go there.
Anyway, Leave your stories about Luke.... on Luke Friday
Luke!
I love this kid. He's a stand up guy, and it's always good to see him out places. It's sort of like Waldo, actually...you look around at any place where more than one person is and play "Where's Luke?" if you get bored. I don't have many stirring stories about him, but we have hung out several times, but Luke my boy, just remember that bugs in hammocks are good things. Hehhhhh...
That picture you posted Jerm...it looks like you were going for a Slint shot, but did the kid in the middle end up killing half of the other people that weekend? He looks like he is about to go Camp Crystal Lake on someone!

Posted by: D.A. at July 16, 2004 06:31 AMAhhhh, Luke a.k.a. "Takes it in the Face"......That was the nickname he gave himself while playin volleyball. He had an uncanny ability to hit the ball with his face and for that, Sir Takes It, I applaud you......
Posted by: The Beau at July 16, 2004 06:49 AMLuuuuuke! Typing out the "u" doesn't have the same effect as dragging it out in a sports arena. It was supposed to sound like I was booing him while actually saying his name. But forget it. I rarely chime off at misconstruedthoughts anymore. I've kind of gone into this retirement from internet. But I couldn't resist putting in my 2 cent for Luke Friday. I must say, Luke is a pretty cool guy. And it's funny he is known for taking it in the face while playing volleyball because I remember he frequently got hit in the face while playing football. Only instead of with the ball it was other peoples elbows and fists (by accident, of course, or maybe not). He has a nice car too.
Oh yeah, Luke. Sorry for missing the party last weekend. There was this misunderstanding where everyone just end up dropping out because they thought everyone else dropped out. I blame Jared.
Posted by: Tre at July 16, 2004 09:12 AMLuke's a good guy and is wholey deserving of a Friday. I'm all down with doing stuff with Luke. It gives me a look into what it must be like to be a good ol normal guy who likes cars instead of the hardcore nerd that I am. Indeed, thanks to Luke I can almost be cool once in a while; that is, whenever I'm with him, cruising around with sun glasses on, listening to loud radio music, being awesome, you know.
I rememerb this one time, just like two weeks ago, Luke and I went to the movie theater looking for his lost sunglasses and didn't find them. Then we went back there again later and found them. They were in the lost and found. Luke was happy. And there was much rejoicing.
And then this other time the roads were wet and we were going too fast and Luke spun out and did a 180, ending up backwords, on the offramp. It was awesome. He handled it really good.
Look, we applaud you and you awesomitude.
Posted by: Captian Jonathan!!! at July 16, 2004 09:15 AMNot everyone gets off work like Tre. But I digress, before I even start. Luke. Dude. See how they sound the same. Yes, Luke is a dude. I remember when I first met Luke, and then I met Luke's car. Its a separate entity all on its own. When he told me had dropped it two inches, I remember thinking, this Luke kid, he's officially cool. Then he took out his pocket knife, and shot himself into infamy. Well actually he slashed himself into infamy, but either way, Luke is a cool cool dude. All hail Luke. And for those wondering, Luke 7:16 says something along the lines of, "God has turned his attention towards his people." Not sure if that's applicable, actually I'm pretty sure its not. Ah well. Luke Friday. Luke, the e is silent right?
Posted by: Javann Laughs Outside, Yet Cries Inside at July 16, 2004 09:49 AMLuke...don't know him very well, but he seems like a quality fella. I met him when I came home one day and he was sitting on my couch, so I said, "who are you, and why are you in my house?"...and he goes..."Im Luke from Knoxvile, I came with Jeremy"...and I was like, "Cool"...and that was pretty much my only conversation ever with him...I really need to work on my social skills. Congrats on your Friday Luke.
Posted by: Other Jeremy at July 16, 2004 10:15 AMLuke, the "Traveling Man". He is always difficult to track down on the weekends. I knew his "take it in the face" name would pop up here. His computer isn't setup right now, so I don't know when he'll see all this.
Luke and I adventured over our Spring Break to Daytona, Orlando, and Sarasota, FL in a few days, and then drove to OH and IN for the last few. Many great times there. Too many too list. Anyway, here's his favorite pic from the trip. Luke, his beloved GSR, and sunglasses.
