..thats right a trail of dust being left in the shadow of a meanderings band of pixies as they tromp around the world! I had been greatly disappointed when it appeared that there was no pixie dust headed to the great south. But alas, redemption!
The Pixies will grace the city of Atlanta in October. Will this sell out? If not I don’t know why. The pixies haven’t been together in over 10 years. And this is the whole crew from Black to Deal. So get ready, the tickets go on sale tommorrow. 10AM. And that’s right, its Misconstrued that got you the word!
See other places they will play (Austin, Chicago)
How many people agree that this is the greatest band in recent history? I can't say I subscribe to that notion since I've only heard a limited amount of their music, but there are millions who agree they are.

When the tickets went on sale in Vancouver they sold out in like 6 minutes, unfortunately I didn't end up with any :(....But I'll have my fingers crossed for you guys, then at least I'll be able to hear how amazing it was.
Posted by: lea at April 8, 2004 11:26 AM"From grunge to Brit-pop, the Pixies shadow loomed large -- it's hard to imagine Nirvana without the Pixies' signature stop-start dynamics and lurching, noisey guitar solos. While the Pixies were touted as the band to bring indie rock into the mainstream, they simply laid the groundwork for the alternative explosion of the early'90s."
Posted by: itzjerm at April 8, 2004 12:48 PMYeah, Nirvana wouldn't have happened without the Pixies - Kurdt always said they were his major influence. And even Thom Yorke to this day says they're the greatest band - ever. What albums would you recommend I listen to to get into them more? Like I said, I've only heard a little bit of their stuff...
Posted by: keats at April 8, 2004 01:34 PMI'd like to go see the Pixies, but as usual, I'm broke. So I'm starting a SJTGSTP fund, or Send Javann To Go See The Pixies fund, so you can help this poor college student get a music education. Just send your pledges to TallBlackNCrazy@hotmail.com.
Posted by: Young Javann at April 8, 2004 01:52 PMMr. Keats,
Get Doolittle first. Then, skip the next to the last track, download, Cariboo, Where Is My Mind?, Alec Eiffel, Velouria, Nimrods Son, Me Voy, and whatever else strikes your fancy.
After that, burn a CD, and don't stop listening to it until October.

Posted by: D.A. at April 8, 2004 02:16 PMI would personally have to say get Bossanova as well. I mean it goes from surf rock to screamcore in a matter of the first 2 songs. Its a great album... on my top 10 albums of all time list... and to recognize this... I have updated the music section for the first time in months with a muse and a pixies album... check out these reviews
Posted by: itzjerm at April 8, 2004 02:36 PMDid you know that when Frank Black got used to get writers block, he would stand in front of a mirror and scream until he thought of something?
Now that's songwritin'.

Posted by: D.A. at April 8, 2004 02:40 PMI'll do what I can to get ahold of an album. I'd much rather hear albums first and then mix it up - it gives a better understanding of the band musically.
