So two things bestow this "honor" upon Mark... You know his own Friday. First was the find of the classic song about him this week. The other the text message he sent me.
In his never ending pursuit to cause harm to himself he headed up to Canada, for a continued adventure from a couple of years ago. In the course of this trip I get a text message
"I got charged by a bear today"
I promptly asked if it was a "Grizzly" to ensure he had not been tricked into believing they exist... he responded
"No they don’t exist"
"I was about 8 yards away from him when he charged"
Now obviously mark has made a mistake here. True we all know that Grizzly bears do not exist. But this is not to be confused with the fact that Bears do exist. So don’t fall into the mistake of Mark, it could be dangerous. In fact falling into this "Mark" thought pattern could be very hazardous to your health.
But that’s a different story.
The funny thing about Mark is his ability to take abuse. I think it was about 2 years ago I went home, and noticed the new saying of the congregation was "Its Marks Fault..." Interesting indeed... especially when its even during a meeting.
Ah but Marks a sport.
Back in the day though he was truly annoying. The 5 week trip doing unassigned territory, and backpacking almost led to his demise (by me). But as the years have gone by Mark has mellowed out and Mark is actually an OK guy. Up for whatever (particularly if its crazy).
All that remains of those highly annoying years is a classic song. A classic song written about him. Lost for years till the exciting find this week. By the group Kaizen, it would inspire some of the other great artist of the day. And for your listening pleasure it is here today.
And no, no Marks not a Jerk (remember the last verse...)
Add your Mark quotes and stories today on Mark Friday.
Mark Friday!
Mark is defiantly one of a kind. i too got the same message. i didn't respond because i figured it would lead into a narrow minded discussion about Grizzlies not existing (BTW Jerm: i have the picture proof!) Mark is always ready for an adventure. He came up here and we rafted the 5 plus Gauley river. Good times.....one point i almost thought i was going to die but that's another story. Another great thing about Mark is he will always meet ya for early morning service no matter what time he goes to bed the night before. He also has a way with kids. He was able to put up with my brothers through antagonizing torture.....hee hee. i'm glad you didn't get killed by the bear Mark!
Posted by: Jillian at March 19, 2004 07:40 AMJillian... its just a Candaian Govt ploy...look closely you'll see the seems... And yes Mark will be there (5 minutes late, unless my dad is with us we now know... The Fear of my father)
Posted by: itzjerm at March 19, 2004 07:51 AMMark Is A Jerk was the first Jeremy-touched song I ever heard. I walked out after about a minute and a half. Heh heh.
Now, Mark said the same thing on my Friday, so I am going to give it back to him now. Our only real memory of each other, aside from random hang-out's, is the water fight we got into in Rogersville. The little bugger somehow got onto the roof and as I was lured outside, he dumped a trashcan full of warm water onto me.
Ahhhh, good times. Congrats Mark!
Well, they were good until the warm water made me pee my pants...

Posted by: D.A. at March 19, 2004 08:01 AMJerm, i can't wait till the new system when i will invite you and Mark over to one of my houses in South Africa on top of a hill that overlooks incredible mountains and vineyards so you can come play with my Grizzly Bear family. Then you will both be perfect and believe in Grizzly bears! :)
Posted by: Jillian at March 19, 2004 08:27 AMAh, Mark. What can you say of him but that you are glad Nathan, Jay and Ben are there to make you realize, yes, there really is something wrong with this Wilson in particular. And Cookeville is ticked, Mark. We're beating you again this year. Just let me know when is best for you. 5-6, 5-2 and now 1-2. The games we win are at least blowouts. LOL. Just kidding. I'm not letting certain punks on the team this year. Half the losers didn't even show up. Bah.

Markus,
Thanks for letting us stay with you this summer, and using up a lot of your gas to show us around. It was great. Hopefully you had an ok time up here, just next time don't get attacked by bears.....oh or get in trouble with the police haha.
Mark is definitely the coolest guy I know. (I say this every Friday, but bear with me. . .) My earliest memories of Mark was when Jeremy was going to B.C. and saying he'd probably kill Mark before the trip was over. I just laughed because the idea of Jeremy killing anyone is laughable (or maybe that's just me) and Jeremy looked at me like a cornered coyote, and that's when I feared for Mark's safety. Actually that wasn't the first memory I have of Mark. The first thing that comes into my mind was when we went up into the mountains somewhere, and (as usual) I got left behind because I can't run a trail without falling down and not getting up. The funny thing about this trip was, Mark had just broke his arm. That's right, he had on a sling. He couldn't move it past a certain point, and he was like, ah, I'll just keep the sling on and it'll be alright. And I remember thinking, "wow Mark has his doctorate in medicine." But then he told me he didn't. Then I fell down, and they all left me behind on a strange trail I'd never seen before. Good times, good times.

Posted by: javaprincess at March 21, 2004 07:51 PMYes the quote is true "it's mark's fault". I was there one of the times it was said from the platform and the whole audience nodded in agreement. When is the next cookville/ greenville game anyway?
