So a trip back home, back to my roots, and those who helped make those roots. In other words, a weekend of interesting activities. Most interesting involving balloons. Larry (See Larry Friday) was sharing in his annual Meteorological Study of wind patterns with the release of multiple balloons, on which are printed a return address. He has actually had these balloons returned to him from 100's of miles away. Hey and who doesn’t enjoy watching balloons being freed!? I think we should have National Save the Balloons day where we shall release 1000's of balloons.
Of course then there were the moments with Kevin (See Kevin Friday). Which as predicted included highly volatile mixtures of gas, and explosions? I have to say I have never seen or heard such a large explosion! Ah fun in TN. As always don’t try at home. (Go to TN).
Posted by itzjerm at March 8, 2004 09:39 AMKevin and Larry in one weekend? That sounds like an awesome trip, full of fire and laughter. And balloons. Which incidentally, are filled with helium. Its only incidental, though.
Posted by: Javann at March 8, 2004 11:25 AMJust a point... what if you release hundreds of balloons with your return address on them and they fall into the ocean killing hundreds of fish or birds including endangered ones and people find your return address and sue you because you killed things or the Feds decide to arrest you for said atrocities claiming aquatic or worse yet aviary genocide and you get locked up for fifty years and fined a million dollars?

"Save the Balloons not the Whales"
Posted by: itzjerm at March 8, 2004 02:20 PMI think you should go to TN and release hundreds of whales. That would be amusing. Be sure to put somebodies return address on each one though.
Posted by: Jon Houser at March 8, 2004 03:09 PMHmmm it is an interesting concept! What is your address? And also I think I will rent a hot air balloon and drop cans of tuna! Yes, I'll need your address.
Posted by: itzjerm at March 8, 2004 03:29 PMI was going to say something about killing thousands of whales who mistake the discolored balloons for jellyfish, but then I thought about it and I figured its not my day to be the socially correct one. In fact, I'd rather say forget the whales, they're nothing but a good source of blubber, and the ecosystem has been around long enough. I don't know any whales but if I did, I'd make soap from their fatty remains. Actually, no I wouldn't. I like whales.
