Interpol - Turn on the Bright Light (2002)

Ambient sounds of Darkness which has not been heard since the 70’s. This is definitely the reincarnation of Joy Division. Monotone songs with feeling? Impossible, no. What is lost in voice is gained in ambient soundscapes. The sincerness is always felt, almost because of the monotone voice of the lead singer. A cross of modernism but focused mainly on the gothic sounds of the early 70’s. It is all one long flowing song, yet highly appreciated. The group is from NYC. I think of the monotony crossed with feeling as a cry of a human from New York City, lost in its monotony are individuals struggling to be that, real people, in an unreal environment. Search for the same ending with them in this excellent album.
